Vitamix blenders are like the Pelotons of the kitchen appliance world—snazzy, efficient, and expensive. Do you really need one? No: You can pulverize your food with other appliances. But if you’ve got your mind set on owning one, well, you’re in luck. Amazon’s October Prime Day is coming up and there are some rare discounts on Vitamix blenders happening right now. They’re still not cheap, but they are less expensive.

Vitamix Explorian blender, 48-ounce

The Vitamix Explorian blender has the powerful 1340-watt motor and stainless steel blades that can take down entire fruits just like you’ve always dreamed of. The six-cup capacity means you can make a week’s worth of baby food, or enough carrot and fennel soup for your next dinner party. By the way, you can also heat that soup to serving temperature in the Vitamix.

Vitamix Propel blender, 48-ounce

With a slightly more powerful motor than the Explorian (1380 watts), the Vitamix Propel comes with the same six-cup capacity container and the same abilities as the Explorian. So why the rather large price difference? My guess is the slightly different look and extra 40 watts of power. The control panel includes a few more features and presets to give you the freedom to walk away and do something else while you blend. Some reviewers also mention that this series is a wee bit quieter, too.

Vitamix 2-Speed immersion blender with whisk

Maybe it’s not what you thought of when you heard “blender,” but immersion blenders are way more versatile than stand-up blenders, in my opinion. The point of an immersion blender, or stick blender, is that you can blend the contents of any container. Instead of pouring nearly boiling soup into a blender container in batches, just plunk this Vitamix immersion blender into the pot and blend away. Remove the blender end and toss it in the sink. The whisk attachment is just the icing on the cake. (You can actually use it for cake icing.)
